Rolfing postulates on the basis of observation, that a human being is basically an energy field operating in the greater energy field of the earth. – Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D
There are many approaches to bodywork and the way we perceive our physicality. Structural Integration is one form that works with the connective tissue or fascia. What is most fascinating with connective tissue is everything in the body is enmeshed within this system down to cellular level. Touch the body at this layer and level and the change reverberates throughout. What has always intrigued me is how a change on the physical level effects all dimensions; physical, psychological, emotional, energetically and spiritually. Other bodywork takes connective tissue in account, but none approaches the body in such an integrated and systemic way, at least not to my knowledge. As quoted by Dr. Rolf, how to allow the human body to operate most efficiently and openly as an energy field in a larger energy field is how structural integration sees human structure.
Having been certified by the Rolf Institute, then a member of the Guild for Structural Integration, I now find my greatest affinity with The Crestone College of Structural Integration. I include a link if you would like to read more. http://www.crestonesi.org
I am dealing with problems in the body where there is never just one cause. I’d like you to have more reality on the circular processes that do not act in the body, but that are the body. The body process is not linear, it is circular; always, it is circular. One thing goes awry, and its effects go on and on and on and on. A body is a web, connecting everything with everything else. – Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D
